The third stage of the trail begins in the center of Borgomanero and guides travelers through one of the most fascinating areas of Novara province, among vine-covered hills, historic villages, Antonellian architecture, and landscapes deeply connected to wine culture.

The route begins by skirting the Agogna stream and crossing the Parco della Resistenza, then heads west toward the first hills. After a rather challenging climb, the trail enters a natural setting of woods and vineyards, reaching the locality of Castellazzo.

Between Cureggio and Maggiora, following the traces of Alessandro Antonelli

From Castellazzo, the route descends toward the turnoff leading to the center of Cureggio, then reaches the Sizzone stream, following its course through a stretch surrounded by greenery.

Just before the former heliotherapy colony, the route climbs toward Maggiora, birthplace of the celebrated architect Alessandro Antonelli, a symbolic figure of the area and creator of the Mole Antonelliana in Turin.

Passing through the historic center of the village, you will encounter the statue dedicated to the architect, a symbolic point of the stage, before continuing the trail through vineyards and woods.

In the heart of Boca DOC among historic vineyards and panoramas

Continuing northwest, the route meets the turnoff for the center of Boca and several vineyards cultivated with the traditional "alla maggiorina" system, an ancient vine-training technique typical of this area.

The trail then reaches the historic Cascina Montalbano, nestled in the heart of the production area of the prestigious Boca DOC. Here the landscape opens up among orderly rows of vines, hills, and panoramas that accompany the trail toward the highest vineyards of the village.

This section represents one of the most panoramic points of the stage, thanks to its privileged exposure and sweeping views of the hills and the Alpine arc.

The Antonellian Sanctuary and arrival in Cavallirio

The descent leads to the imposing Santuario del Santissimo Crocifisso, an Antonellian building absolutely worth visiting, also for the permanent exhibition dedicated to Alessandro Antonelli.

From here, the route climbs along the cycling and pedestrian path toward Cavallirio, passing at the foot of the historic Podere ai Valloni, accessible via a short scenic detour.

The trail then crosses the area of Cascina del Buonumore, completely surrounded by vineyards, before leaving the cycle path to head toward the hill where the remains of the historic Torre di Cavallirio stand, also accessible via a short detour.

The final part of the stage guides travelers among the characteristic Casotti delle vigne, testimony to the local rural tradition, all the way to the evocative historic center of Cavallirio, where the Via della Sesia branches off and the third day of the trail ends.
